Hisamura produces objective works that focus on changes in physical experience that occur when otherwise indistinct objects such as a wall, floor, ceiling, or pedestal are tweaked and concealed within an environment, The object is said to "exist without appearing to be". Recent major exhibitions include: "Between the Between and Between" (NADiff a/p/a/r/t, 2014), "MAP" (Tokyo Wonder Site, 2013), "Existing there without appearing to be" (3331 Gallery, 2012) and more.
My works are based on otherwise indistinct objects such as a wall, floor, ceiling, or pedestal that are said to "exist without appearing to be". Though not clearly recognised they remain present, affecting the human body and behaviour. In other words, I've always believed that this non-visual sensory experience was the advantage of three-dimensional objects.
In the "Balance" series exhibited here, I carve the legs of tables and chairs, revealing delicate sculptures. This and the loss of the furniture's function become artwork that can be lived with.
