In Korea we witnessed the ritual of the Korean shaman-priest (or mudang).
In the ceremony, a chubby opened pig was treated as an offering.
We watched as it was changed into meat as we recognize it (or kogi) at the hands of the shaman-priest.
Then, as kogi ourselves, went to purchase foodstuffs at the market.
There is a variety of light at the market in Seoul.
There, we painted the pepper that we were gazing at.
In 2014, the sinking of the MV Sewol occurred.
Yellow ribbons were hung in Seoul, wishing for the safe return of the victims.
For their funeral in early summer,
the shaman-priests carried out a ritual at the harbor.
Lastly, the people lit "wind baskets".
These were a type of floating lanterns.
They were originally used in Buddhist prayers of rich harvest.
The yellow wind baskets swirled about the sky, carrying prayers.
