Dutch print artist Tom Thijsse has dedicated his time to print making in recent years after serving as a printmaking professor at Gerrit Rietveld Academie (Amsterdam) and the Royal Academy of Art (The Hague) for many years. Though having specialised in oil-based woodcut techniques he underwent training in the Nagasawa Art Park water-based multicolour print program in 1999. Since then, Thijsse draws inspiration from Japanese culture while incorporating water-based woodcut techniques, material and other elements to offer a pop-like and satirical glimpse into his unique expressive world.
