3331 Art Fair 2016 ‒Various Collectors Prizes‒

"3331 Art Fair 2016 -Various Collectors Prizes-" is an alternative art fair of the Tokyo art scene comprising a selection of artists as noteworthy as their nominators: curators of the rapidly changing contemporary art world, galleries with their fingers on the pulse of the art market, and alternative spaces that have gathered attention for their activities in the space itself. Ranging from two-dimensional and sculptural artwork to installation, the resulting lineup of ambitious artwork represents the freshest and most promising artists, totaling 69 individuals and groups.
As in previous years, recommended artists will receive the "Silver Prize" by artist selectors and art collectors, while those who purchase artwork can assign a "Collectors Prize". The collectors that gather for 3331 Art Fair are diverse in age and profession, beginning with art professionals and ranging from company owners and employees, to tradespeople and students. We hope that the variety of aesthetic tastes of the participants, each extending comments and prizes towards the artwork, will connect the artists together with the collector and the visitor, encouraging the first step towards art collection for many others while proposing a new image of the "art collector".
3331 Arts Chiyoda is itself an artist-run alternative space. The art fair held here is structured as a group show presenting radical forms of expression, foremost from an artist's perspective. Further, in honor of artist Fumiko Kobayashi who passed away this January, a memorial exhibition “Nest” is held as a special booth alongside the art fair.
To those attending with the viewpoint of collecting artwork, we hope the fair provides a sense of the frontline of Tokyo's art scene.
