私は常々、絵画は生き物であると考えている。私は偶然性をコントロールし必然にする作業を行っている。その制作過程において平置きにしたキャンバスに、多量のオイルに溶かした油絵の具を流すものがある。絵の具はゆるやかに流動し、落ち着くところに落ち着く。その動きは偶然性の高いものである。そこで私はあらかじめ具体的な形、モチーフを予見し、偶然の美しい形を壊さぬよう積み重ね、それに近づけていく作業をする。私は、生き物としての絵画を、絵の具の何かになろうとする力を見つめ、重力と時間経過による成長によって表現している。

I always believe that paintings are something alive. During the working process, I try to control the randomness of actions and never follow an exact plan. I pour a large amount of melted oil on a surface of plain canvas stretched on a wooden frame. A paint flows slowly on a canvas top, and after a while, it solidifies. The way of paint’s movement seems very unpredictable. At first, I design a form of an art object and its motif when I start painting. Then, I try not to ruin the natural beauty of lines and shapes of composed image. As an artist, I aim to create artworks, which will seem as a life forms disposed to a change through time and under the influence of gravity force.
