例えば「肉」「マグマ」「栗」といった単語。私にとって、それらの日本語の単語が組み合わさったときの字面や音感が、まるで異なる高さの音が重なり合い和音となって奏でられるように、それぞれの単語が指す意味や対象も溶け合って、層を成して、複雑な色彩や形、リズムとなって見えてくることがあります。最近は、油彩を主な描画材として平面のキャンバス上でその「見えてくるもの」を描こうと試みています。

Take for example words such as ‘flesh’, ‘magma’ and 'chestnut’, for me, these words composed of sound and form can be combined to create layers of complicated combinations of colour, form an rhythm, In the meantime, each word melts together as if the varying pitches of sound overlap to form a harmonic chord. Recently, I have been trying to capture these visualisations with oil paint on the flat surface of the canvas.
