profilingとは、異常犯罪の犯人像の分析技法の総称である。現場に残された状況を元に、統計的な経験と犯罪データ・心理学の両面から犯人像を推理し、人種や年齢、生活態度を特定していくものである。モノ自体に言葉は持たないが、モノのあり方から、様々な角度により分析された人間像に関心を抱く。その統計的なデータは正確な犯人像を導きだす事もあるが、犯人が捕まるまでは、あくまでも架空の人物像である。または、存在しえない人物像を描く事になる。その存在し得なかった犯人像の架空性や不在性に焦点を当てた。

Profiling is used as an investigative tool to determine likely criminals. A criminal profile including their race, age, and lifestyle inferred through what is left of the scene with the use of statistical experience, criminal data, and psychological analysis. I am interested in the profile that such environment leaves behind. Although such data often leads to the creation of a profile of the right criminal, he/she is a imaginary person until he is caught. Also it may lead to creating a profile that completely does not exist. I created this series based on my interest in such possibilities of a fictional, unpresent and imaginary profiles.
