In this work, the legs of Balthus' subject, which peep out from her skirt, are overlapped with the figure of a bonsai tree. I created the work by referencing a variety of poses I've seen through all types of medium, from paintings to moving image. It is based on hobbies and tastes that change with the era and surroundings, using the bonsai figure as the subject of appreciation of ancient Japanese.
