Born in Hokkaido
SHUUN creates images with creatures and their world hiding in daily/non-daily life as motifs. Audience is strongly attracted by the world created with overwhelming use of various colors, cuteness and terror, creatures with winsomeness and eeriness, and elaborate yet bold sense of humor. Started to create seriously around 2010, exhibited pieces in Taipei for a project called Creative Hokkaido in 2012. In 2014, showed at some exhibition such as "MUSIC" at Cross Hotel Sapporo and "Scene of Wind" at Sapporo Art Park Museum, in addition just first solo exhibition "ANIMALS" was well received. "Clutch bag" derived from exhibition work "moja moja" is also getting the ardent support of creators.
Because of poor vision in early childhood, I had always imagined the distant scenery when playing with animals in the countryside. With that as my original experience, I paint with my own sense of balance and little regard for color scheme. I do not hesitate in using a diverse range of color. Just as I tend to drift towards unpopular things, the works I paint may not be liked by a wide audience. But that's fine. Though I'd like to know who my paintings reach and how they are received, it is not possible. But that's also interesting. While thinking like this, I continue to produce paintings that spread out under limited existing colors.
