Born in Kumamoto, 1986.
Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts, MA in Painting in 2012.
Major exhibitions include "Screen" HIGURE17-15cas (Tokyo, 2014), "Kazuya Takagawa video show" 3331 Arts Chiyoda (Tokyo, 2012), "Reflection of an outsider on outsider" Seoul Art Space GEUMCHEON (Seoul, 2011), "BEDAH VIDEO & KOPI SORE" S-14 (Bandung, 2011) and more. In recent years Takagawa has been producing video and drawings around the theme of "intense devotion" which pull from material gathered from individuals or groups with certain traits. A work produced last year titled "Practice for identification" documented confessions and demonstrations of three individual physics, a stage actor and a yoga instructor.
It can be said that the act of "entrusting" does not only carry excuse for the human weakness of "dependance" but is also inevitable as life prompts personal choices and decisions. Speaking paradoxically, I'd like to think that in the act of entrusting, an odd circumstance occurs that leads one towards "autonomy".
