Toda's work reinterprets the mechanisms of natural phenomenon common to all of us -- topography, climate and the seasons - using moving image, sound, sculptural and 2D works or installations combining the former.
Recent Exhibitions: Setouchi Triennale 2013 (Kagawa), "Maturity and Loss" TALION GALLERY (Tokyo, 2013), "Blue Valentine" XYZ collective (Tokyo, 2013), "The Rhythm of Site" solo show at 3331 Gallery (Tokyo, 2011), "Social Dive-Exploratory Imagination" 3331 Arts Chiyoda 1F Main Gallery (Tokyo, 2011).
I consider the existence and phenomena of topography, climate and seasons - a sphere which is common to all of us. I reference things that seem to approach the subject I am thinking of. For instance, I often see things like architecture, eye movement, cultivation methods, Jizo (a guardian diety) and sensations in pools from a very personal point of view.
Thinking in this way, I create by combining properties of moving image, sculptural pieces and planar works. I am able to pursue things even if having been replaced by something else because the casual relationship and structure of that thing does not disappear.
