Tsuruga has built his collection over more than 40 years, beginning in his early 20s. His awakening to art came thanks to pioneering gallerist of the time, Minami Gallery's Kusuo Shimizu and poet/art crititic Shuzo Takiguchi who introducced surrealism to Japan for the first time. After relfecting on a dedicated collection of non-Japanese artists, Tsuruga has made a shift in his late 40s to support emerging Japanese artists. In addition to artwork purchasing, Tsuraga makes efforts to introduce artists to galleries. He has also been posting art reviews via facebook for some time.
