Born in 1981 in Yamagata. While focused on emerging artists, Shimabayashi's tastes as an art collector are wide-ranging, including planar and sculptural works, ceramics, photography, moving image and installation. He prefers works with a "renewed" sense. He is active in the arts in forms other than collecting, through media coverage, talk events, contributions to collection exhibitions and crowd funding, exhibition planning and more.
