A Pisces born in 1952, Hayashi sees himself as a humble collector with the desire to connect with a contradictory creed found in art - the certainty that nothing in life is certain. "Unlike many venerable collectors who collect with a firm belief in the flow of art, I feel there is something to be found in moving away from the mainstream. Just as the audience holds their breath in anticipation as the last runner in a relay race makes their breakaway. But in all honesty, I may be hoping that as a rich person I may be able to collect as much mainstream as I like." Hayashi currently lives in the birthplace of Hokusai.
