"Trans-Society Project.”
新進気鋭の若手作家、Sukho Kangは、オブザーバー・クリエーターと自己を称し、非常に興味深い実験的なプロジェクトに取り組んでいます。彼は、プラスチック製の箱に、書籍(聖書、美術書の全集/カタログ・レゾネ、辞書)と、山の上の樹木から採取したシロアリのコロニーを入れ、本を選んでシロアリに与えることのみで、箱の中を住みやすい状態に保っています。その小さな世界、いわばミクロの文明社会で起こっていることに干渉することはなく、人類文明の縮図である書籍にその世界を移植しています。このプロジェクトは、創造と破壊における、はかなさと崇高性、抗えない自然の力とそれに対抗し、もがく人類の二重性を巡って展開されています。
Sukho Kang, a promising young artist, works on a highly interesting experimental project as the self-entitled observer-creator. He puts in a plastic box a book – the Bible, catalogue raisonné, or dictionary – with a colony of termites he collected from living trees up in the mountains. Then only thing he does is to select a book, feed the termites with it, and keep the box inhabitable. He does not interfere in what is happening in that tiny world unto itself, a micro society-civilization, which has been transplanted into book, the epitome of human civilization. The project revolves around the duality of transience and sublimity, of creation and destruction, and of the irresistible force of nature and the human struggle against it.

Gallery it ( Irritum Tokyo )は、アーツ千代田 3331の2階にある、「実験的アートスペース」です。Gallery itは、アーツ千代田 3331周辺のコミュニティや、東京という都市の好奇心を刺激するアーティストを招聘することにより、非定型的かつ思考を喚起する、『spur-of-the-moment (衝動的)』なアートプロジェクトを紹介したいと考えています。同時にコマーシャルギャラリーとして、有望な若手アジア人作家の発掘と、発信を世界のアートマーケットにて継続的に行うことを心がけています。
Gallery itは今回の3331 Art Fair 2018にて、Lawrence Beck、 Jipil Jung、 Sukho KangそしてKurai、以上の作家勢の写真作品のコレクションを展示いたします。

Gallery it – Irritum Tokyo – is an ‘experimental art space’ situated on the 2nd floor of 3331 Arts Chiyoda. Conceived to stage exhibitions full of spectacles and stories, Gallery it will bring to 3331 community and the city of Tokyo interesting artists for unconventional, thought-provoking yet fun and ‘spur-of-the-moment’ art projects. Besides, it, as a commercial gallery, will make consistent efforts to discover promising young Asian artists and represent them in the international art market.
