Mokuhanga is becoming common word in the world of printmaking. Here we will introduce some of European Mokuhanga artists showing technical and thematic comparisons through the works before and after Mokuhanga acquisition.Through the printing works by European points of view, we will be able to discover how they find differences between Japanese culture and European’s and how they interpret it and merge the distinctions among them, which will appear as an intercultural model.Differently from the western artistic tools which are meant to be used for a specific purpose, Japanese chisels and cutting knives change their use accordingly to the artist or artisan who handle them. We will see how Japanese tools in european hands create a unique expression.The exhibition will also revolve about features of this art, that are environmentally friendly materials, practicability even in less spaces, as well as portability of working tools.
