属性が固定化されているような事物への疑いが制作の根元になっています。対象や手法には決まりを設けていませんが、建築が建物になる以前の、建築模型が持っている中途半端ながらも生々しい実態無き実体に、ヒントがあると考えます。風景を構成しているあらゆる事物にもささやかな曖昧さは常に潜んでいて、それらをとりあえず固定化する事で安定を得ているとするならば、それらの曖昧さからとりあえずの固定具を取り外し、再び宙に浮かせてみてはどうか。その先に想像される主従関係が反転し物事が無効化した状態は、私を恍惚とさせます。

My work is rooted in the doubt of things with pre-fixed attributes. I don’t set a rule about my motifs and methods, however I think the hint lies in the concept of an “entity without reality,” an existence that is halfway yet vivid, which I find in architectural models for buildings not yet constructed. If we assume that small ambiguities always lurk in everything making up our surrounding landscape, and those are stabilized by tentative fixed attributes, I want to remove the fixture from those ambiguities and let it float again. It thrills me to imagine the overturned state of power relations and objects by their own invalidation.

太田のインスタレーション作品は、整然とした日常を何気なく破壊していく。室内の壁はよく見ると外壁であり、排気口や排水管、排水溝、雨樋といった外側にあるべきものをそれらの機能は保持したまま内側に取り込む。余白、距離、裏側といった不可視の領域を家や部屋といった身近な事実と映画や演劇の舞台セットや小道具などの虚構的世界観の交錯によって異化し、変質させる。既にある建築物にパラサイトした外からのものたちが介入する空間は、登場人物のいない近未来パニック映画のワンシーンを思わせる静けさと狂気を感じる。鑑賞者が置かれる状況は中なのか外なのか。気がつくとインとアウトは反転し、世界のパノラマは融解を始める。
