Combining objects, photos, replicas of natural materials, antiques and the like, Okubo creates installations that seem to move through time and space. In the course of that creation she weaves a story, the elements of which consist of the things she has experienced. By reading a story, one can hit upon the memories of the characters’ quests, but when Okubo performs a reading of the story herself, the creator, work, and story are further broken down into multiple layers, and the boundaries between reality and illusion become more and more ambiguous. In the relationship of the work and the creator mingling together, even the viewers could be influencing the space with their existence.
