トモ・スズキ特別賞

Tomo Suzuki Special Award

1967年東京生まれ。ニューヨーク大学（NYU）在学中より日米で美術展やイベントを手がけ、卒業後はNYのギャラリストとして活躍。
帰国後、1996年より水戸芸術館の広報担当。在職中、最多で年間3,250人の特別来館者に対応。市民団体による映画祭を誘致して、同団体のNPO法人化に尽力。世界各地の美術館や映画祭の上映プログラムを依頼され始める。
2000年から美術家の映画プロデュース開始。 2002年に水戸芸術館を離職し、フリーランス。アート映画の企画、製作、上映を本格化させ、マシュー・バーニーやビョーク、アピチャッポン・ウィーラセタクンの映画に関与。
2006年トモ・スズキ・ジャパン有限会社を設立。都市の文化創造をビジョンに掲げて、クリエイターとのプロジェクトを推進。
2015年オーストラリアのボンド大学院で経営学修士（MBA）を取得。1.5年での修了は歴代最速タイ記録。以後、美術館の自立運営・経営を研究。
2020年はマシュー・バーニーやアピチャッポン・ウィーラセタクン、アイ・ウェイウェイの監督作で協働。

Born in 1967 in Tokyo. Coordinated exhibitions and cultural events during his studies at New York University. Developed art projects in NY after graduation. Organized film festivals at Art Tower Mito in Japan and programmed for museum theaters all over the world from 1996 to 2002. Became independent in 2002 and found Tomo Suzuki Japan.Ltd. in 2006 for consulting, distributing and producing art films. Since then, he has been working for artists like Matthew Barney, Bjork and Apichatpong Weerasethakul. In 2015, he got the MBA from Bond University, Australia to make a study of museum management. In 2020, Tomo Suzuki Japan. Ltd. is involved in the projects by Matthew Barney, Apichatpong Weerasethakul and Ai Weiwei.
