「絵画表現と並行して’90半ばよりプリント制作を続けている。画家が自らの手や筆によってイメージをコントロールし生成変化を画面上に起こすのに対してプリント表現は描画、製版、刷りの工程のなかで“間接話法”としてイメージが転化されていく。それに伴う身体感覚はペインティングとはまた違う。私が石や銅板に描いた後、今度は自分が直接関与しない製版と印刷の工程は空白の時間となり、時に私が絵を描いていてふいに私の手を取って描かせる何者かにも似ている。画家と刷り師と“奴”。画家の手と目のすきをついて奴は刷り師とグルになって全てを紙の上に注ぎ込んでくるのだ。」

「I have been creating prints along with my painted works since the mid-90’s. While a painter controls the image by transforming the surface with his own hands and brush, in printed expression, the image is converted indirectly within the process of drawing, plate making, and printing. Moreover, the physical sensation is different than that of painting. After I draw on rock or copper plate the next process of plate making and printing, which I am not directly involve in, becomes a blank space in time. This is similar to when I am painting and it feels as though suddenly somebody takes control of my hand and forces me to paint. The painter, the print maker, and that “somebody”. Following the painter’s hand and his shift in gaze, that somebody conspires with the print maker and pours everything onto the paper. 」
