今回、ご紹介するのは、造形作家 荒木啓子です。彼女が創りだす造形作品は、東洋的なフェイスラインを特徴とし、オリエンタルな美しさと、“いま” を生きる女性たちの感性にフィットするモード・センスを取り入れた新しい世界観を持つモダン・ドールです。 通常、企業広告用に制作される荒木啓子の 造形作品ですが、2010年、当時ランバンのアーティスティックディレクターを務めていたアルベール・エルバス氏のコレクションに加わったのをはじめ、ファッションブランドAS KNOW ASの本社ショールームに作品を永久展示していただくなど、ファッション業界の方々から注目を集めてきました。今回は、2011年、ミラノサローネ 現代日本の工芸作家11人に選出されたガラス作家 荒川尚也氏とコラボレーションした造形作品をメインに展示いたします。

Keiko Araki’s dolls incorporate Asian beauty and structure with the sensitivity of women who live in the moment. These modern dolls have a whole new worldview. The main materials are stone-clay, FRP (Fiber-reinforced plastic), and resin. Recently she has also been exploring a new style for dolls incorporating Japanese traditional handicraft techniques and materials such as Japanese paper, lacquer, ceramics, and glass.
