武蔵野美術大学の日本画学科は、伝統的な技法、美意識を学んだ上で、日本画を入口とした個性豊かな新しい表現者を育てることを目指しています。 東洋画の長い伝統を受け継ぎながら、外来文化の影響を吸収しつつ形成、発展してきた日本画。日本人に宿る独特な美意識と精神性から生まれた造形思想、そして優れた材料・技法は、世界の美術の中で個性的な位置を占めています。本学科では、日本画や日本について深く考え自らが研究を行う過程を大切にしながら、奥深く魅力的な専門技法を習得し、日本画を通してその枠組みを更に拡大し新たな絵画世界へと挑戦し続ける力を育んでいます。

The Department of Japanese Painting at Musashino Art University is dedicated to nurturing a new generation of artists well-versed in the styles and specialities of the art form.Japanese painting, while being heir to a long tradition of Oriental visual arts, is continually assimilating foreign influences and developing as a discipline of its own. Its unique approach to using quality materials and techniques, and expression of an aesthetic particular to Japanese culture has earned it a special place in art around the world. Through this course, we aim to cultivate in our students an understanding of the wealth of wisdom that Japanese painting has to offer, while valuing the application of a thoughtful and independent methodology to their research and studies. We hope that with the skills and perspectives gained, they will be fully equipped to navigate the ever-evolving artistic landscape.
