「美術家はどのような文化によって育ってきたか、 異文化との交流でどのように変わるのか。」 ONJI TAE PROJECT（オンヂ タエ プロジェクト）は、ポーランドのスタリ・ソンチ市主催で毎年行われているアーティスト・イン・レジデンスの日本事務局として開催をサポートしています。2019年には日本から作家の小川格、矢島史織の２名が参加し、作品はスタリ・ソンチ市のパブリック・コレクションとして収蔵されました。 スタリ・ソンチの国際画家交流ワークショップは、2006年にポーランドのアーティストであるマリアン・ノヴィンスキーの主導によって始まりました。表現者を育むのはその土地固有の文化であるとの信念に基づいて2019年まで毎年開催されています。自らの生まれ育った地域や現在暮らす地域でどのような文化が私たちを育んでいるのかを振り返ることは、作家にとって大きな契機となります。 ヨーロッパ各国をはじめ中国、日本などアジアからも画家が参加するこのワークショップでは、2週間にわたる滞在中、全く異なる文化的背景をもつ作家たちが交流しながら作品を制作します。

“What kind of culture has nourished artists, and how do they change by interacting with other cultures?” The Onji Tae Project helps hold a yearly artist-in-residence program run by the Polish city of Stary Sącz, serving as its Japan office. In 2019 the two artists Itaru Ogawa and Shiori Yajima participated from Japan. Their artworks were acquired by Stary Sącz and now form part of its public collection. Stary Sącz’s international artist exchange workshop was started in 2006 under the direction of the Polish artist Marian Nowinski. Based on the belief that nurturing artists is the culture of this place, it has been held yearly up through 2019. Reflecting on how we are nurtured by the places in which we were born or live can serve for artists as an occasion that leads to further growth. Artists from European countries as well as China, Japan, and other Asian countries participate while residing locally for two weeks, creating artworks while interacting with other artists with completely different cultural backgrounds.
