循環し続ける水の中に魚・野菜・オブジェそして微生物がバラバラに配置されているインスタレーション作品《サンルーム》(2018-) に皇居のお濠から汲み取った水が使用されていたように、渡辺の作品は通じて、生態系や身体といった問題を扱いながらも、その深淵には常に極めて政治的な天皇制への独自の視点が盛り込まれています。 また、在来種や外来種にといった個々の種に潜む資本主義、グローバリズムといった問題を生殖やフェミニズムなどと結びつけ、人間社会を含むエコロジーのあり方を模索しています。
While Watanabe's works seemly deal with themes such as the ecosystem and the human body, she has never forget to penetrated a unique perspective[/ political sensitivity] on the Emperor system into her works; She scooped
up water from the Imperial Palace moat and used them into the circulating water in the early days of her making of installation “Sunroom”(2018-). She also explores ways of total ecology, including human society, by ways of connecting the notions of “reproduction” and “feminism” with issues such as “capitalism” and “globalism” lurking in individual species within ecosystems, such as native/ alien species.

渡辺志桜里は、循環する自立した生態系を維持しながら、その一部を切り取り株分けしていく作品を制作し注目された。彼女の作品は、外来種や純血種、絶滅種、遺伝子操作など、人間社会のなかで生命がコントロールされ管理される状況について、天皇制や移民など政治的な論点も呼び込みつつ、多層的なメタファーとして機能する。
