1961年東京都生まれ。北海道教育大学卒業後、信州大学山本哲士研究室で教育社会学・言語社会学を学ぶ。美学校菊畑茂久馬絵画教場修了。1994年、『WIRED』日本版創刊にあたりアートディレクターに就任。1998年、アジール・デザイン（現アジール）設立。2003～10年、アート・デザイン・建築の複合イベント「セントラルイースト東京（CET）」をプロデュース。2010年、アートセンター「アーツ千代田 3331」の立ち上げに参画。サンフランシスコ近代美術館パーマネントコレクションほか国内外で受賞多数。2012年からスタートしたアートプロジェクト「トランスアーツ東京（TAT）」を機に絵画制作へと重心を移し、「大館・北秋田芸術祭2014」などに参加。札幌国際芸術祭2017バンドメンバー。東京ビエンナーレ2020/2021クリエイティブディレクター。331デザインディレクター。美学校講師。多摩美術大学グラフィックデザイン学科教授／芸術人類学研究所員。

Born in Tokyo in 1961. After graduating from the Hokkaido University of Education, he studied the sociology of education and language at Tetsuji Yamamoto Research Office, Shinshu University, and also studied painting under Mokuma Kikuhata at Bigakko. In 1994, he was appointed Art Director of the inaugural Japanese WIRED magazine. 1998 Founded ASYL inc. 2003-10 Produced art, design and architecture events at Central East Tokyo (CET). 2010 Involved in the establishment of 3331 Arts Chiyoda and its start-up as design director. He has been recognized with numerous national and international awards and his work is in permanent collection at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. He shifted his focus to drawing through the art project Trans Arts Tokyo, which started in 2012, and went on to participate in the Odate/Kita-Akita Arts Festival 2014 and others. Sapporo International Art Festival 2017. Creative Director of Tokyo Biennale 2020/2021. Design Director, 3331 Arts Chiyoda. Lecturer, Bigakko. Professor in the Department of Graphic Design / Institute for Art Anthropology at Tama Art University.
