BABUは、現在もっとも注目されている、スケーター、ライターの一人であり、現代美術のアーティストでもあります。彼はストリートの思想と実践の中から、新たなストリートカルチャーの実現を目指し、ストリートとアートのシーンを横断しながら、映像、ドローイング、サウンド、絵画、彫刻、インスタレーションなど、様々技法を自由に用いながら作品を発表しています。2017年は、東京ビームスギャラリーでの個展、石巻のリボーンアートフェスティバル、東京藝術大学でのLandscape展、ドバイでのグループショーへの参加など、アートのフィールドでも活躍している。今回は、BABUの活動の中心であるストリートで、スケボーを使ったドローイングを出品予定。

BABU is one of today’s most notable skaters/writers, and even creates work as a contemporary artist. He aims at forming a new street culture from street concepts and practices, which relates both the street and art scene. This involves a method of freely incorporating film, drawing, sound, painting, sculpture, installation and other media to present his work. He is active in the art field, in 2017 holding a solo-exhibition at the Tokyo BEAMS Gallery and participating in the Ishinomaki Reborn-Art Festival, as well as the Tokyo University of the Arts “Landscape” exhibition, and a group show in Dubai. For this exhibition space he displays the street-style work of drawings made using a skateboard.
