Using various mediums of expression such as photographs, video, three-dimensional objects, and the Internet, I am creating work based on characteristics that are particular to photography.

Hana Sawada produces work utilizing various media, including film. In her recent series, she focuses on found objects in print and on websites, and develops her imagination from them. Looking at the objects and two-dimensional pieces created from that process of imagination and association, one can see that, although the silhouettes remain similar, completely different phenomena are exhibited as a series. Her unlimited chain of thoughts and development of imagination, with shape as its starting point, has a power of wonder which draws us in. She has not had a long career as an artist – having completed her post-graduate course around two years ago – but having been selected in the “13th Gunma Biennale for Young Artists 2017” and received an Excellence Award at the “40th New Cosmos of Photography” her talent is already evident.
