Selected Artists

Completion of a graduate or post-graduate degree, a professional career of around a decade, and a demonstration of attention-garnering activities and growth – these were common to the six young artists based in Kansai that I recommended. What I regarded as important above all else in this selection was whether I felt that, if I had their work in my room, it would generate different stories every day.
Today each of us can search for information, go shopping and find entertainment online, but actually we are all in different environments. The things that stimulate us should also be different, but it is often the case that popular things that a lot of people come to like receive all of the attention. In the real experience of an art fair, work is introduced in a showcase, in a positive sense. I hope for a direct connection between the work and the viewers: a sense that they share a space and a feeling that they want to spend time together like a family.
