「ナターシャ・フリッシュは、トレーシングペーパーやテープなどの素朴な材料を使用して、日常のオブジェクトや地域に近接するインスタレーションを構築するアーティストである。一つの空間がデザインされる時、使用される材料の脆くて持続しない性質は、インスタレーションが展示の間だけの一時的な構造であることを確証させる。もし作品が再び示されることになれば、それらは再度制作される必要があり、その繰り返しの中で後に残るものは写真とビデオによる記録のみとなる。都市伝説、忘れられた建築物、自然に溢れる環境から刺激を受け、ナターシャの細密に構築された作品は、私たちに意図的に作られた空間でありながらも読み解かせ、現実と非現実の間のずれを問いかける。」
「Natasha Frisch is an artist who employs modest materials, such as tracing paper and tape, to construct models and installations that closely approximate everyday objects and sites. Designed specifically for one space, the fragile and impermanent nature of the materials used ensures that the installations are temporary constructions, existing only for the lifetime of the exhibition. If the work is to be shown again it must be re-made and all that remains of each iteration is photographic and video documentation. Inspired by urban folklore, forgotten architecture and the natural world, Natasha’s meticulous constructions aim to challenge our reading of the built environment and interrogate the slippage between the real and the unreal.」

ナターシャ・フリッシュは2019年3月から2ヶ月AIR 3331に滞在し、東京の道端の端や割れ目から生えている植物を写実的に表現した立体作品の制作を行った。彼女は自身の繊細な観察眼と表現力でトレーシングペーパーを立体作品に創り上げていく。一見すると、トレーシングペーパーで作られたとは思えない程有機的で、周囲の環境に注意深く配置され撮影された作品はまるでそこにずっと存在していたかのような安定感がある。オーストラリア現代美術館（シドニー）でフルタイムのアシスタントレジストラーを経験したことで、分刻みのスケジュールでも驚異的に正確な制作ペースで繊細な作品制作を可能にしている。ナターシャの作品は自然体で難なくこなしているように見えるがすべての線やアングルは膨大な時間とプロセスをかけて作られている。AIR 3331 でのレジデンスの後、ナターシャの作品は長野で開催された天空の芸術祭TENKU アートフェスティバル2019でも展示された。
Natasha Frisch joined AIR 3331 for a residency from March to May of 2019, where she focused on the completion of new sculptural and photographic works in response to nature growing in the cracks and corners of Tokyo’s urban streets. Natasha has an incredible eye for detail with every measurement and incision of tracing paper made to fit into its exact final form. At first glance, the works appear so organic and stable that we can hardly believe they are made of such delicate material, especially as they are carefully repositioned in their natural environment and photographed, made to appear as if they had been there all along. Continuing her practice while holding a full-time position as Assistant Registrar at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia in Sydney, Natasha is able to create such meticulous works by calculating the precise pace and schedule of production down to the very minute. Natasha’s works may appear natural and effortless, but in every line and angle are layers of process and time. After her residency in Tokyo, Natasha’s work was presented again in Japan for the Tenku Art Festival 2019 held in Nagano Prefecture.
