「ロンドン芸術大学チェルシー・カレッジ・オブ・アーツ修士課程を修了。2012年末に日本に帰国し、その後は東京を拠点に活動。夢や超能力、心霊や神秘学など、不可視のものや科学では解明されていないことを手掛かりに、現実と虚構の境目を探る作品を制作している。特に近作ではポルターガイスト現象を模したさまざまな仕掛けが施された大型の部屋型インスタレーションシリーズや、エクトプラズムやオーブなど心霊写真に登場するイメージ、夢遊病、顔の見えない肖像、異形の人などをモチーフに描いた油彩作品シリーズを発表している。」
「After finished her MA in Fine Art at Chelsea College of Arts, University of the Arts London, Tomiyasu returned to Japan in late 2012 and has since been based in Tokyo. In recent years, she has been working on installations, paintings, and video works to explore the boundaries between reality and fiction, by using motifs like dreams, supernatural powers, apparition, and mysticism that are invisible and have not been elucidated by science. Recent work includes a series of large-scale installation works set as a room with several gimmicks which refer to poltergeist phenomena, and a series of oil paintings that depict motifs such as sleepwalking, portraits without features, unnatural and hideous people, and images that appear in psychic and spirit photography such as ectoplasm and orbs.」

心霊現象や超能力といった要素を没入型インスタレーションで表現し、2018年の資生堂ギャラリーでの展示が話題となった冨安由真さん。生死や現実・非現実の世界をありきたりな印象ではなく実感として突きつけてくる手法と、その細部への作り込みの精密さに毎回驚かされます。人の痕跡があるからこそ感じる不在感の増幅は「死」を匂わし、しかし同時に、日常で鈍感になりつつある聴覚や触覚、そしてその先の第六感のような人間の本来持っている「生」の感覚を呼び起こさせ、私たちを未知の世界に連れ出してくれます。
In 2018, at the Shiseido Gallery, Yuma Tomiyasu expressed phenomena such as ghostly occurrences and extrasensory perception through immersive installations. The works she showed drew much attention. Tomiyasu’s techniques allow people to experience life and death, and the real world and fantasy world realistically, not merely as typical impressions. Also, her works are extremely detailed and precise. These elements cause me to feel a surprise every time I go to an exhibition by Tomiyasu. It is because there are traces of a person a sense of absence is felt. The amplification of the sense of absence causes us to faintly smell death. At the same time, we are taken to a yet-unknown world where the senses of life that human beings naturally possess are awakened. There, hearing, touch, and the sixth sense, which become dulled as we live our daily lives, become keen.
