美術家、起業家。2001年、多摩美術大学絵画科卒業後「インターネットの時代のアート」をテーマに美術制作を開始。現在世界中のNFT取引で標準化されているような還元金の仕組みを2006年に日米で特許取得するなど、業界トレンドの先手を打っている。2014年、東京大学大学院在学中にスタートバーン株式会社を起業し、アート作品の信頼性担保と価値継承を支えるインフラを提供。事業の中心である「Startrail」は、イーサリアム財団から公共性を評価されグラントを受ける。スタートバーン株式会社代表取締役、株式会社アートビート代表取締役、東京大学生産技術研究所インタースペース研究センター豊田研究室客員研究員、東方文化支援財団理事、Open Art Consortium理事を現任。東京藝術大学非常勤講師、経済産業省「アートと経済社会を考える研究会」委員など歴任。また、作家として、個展、グループ展の出展以外にも富士山展、SIZELESS TWIN、ムーンアートナイト下北沢など多数の展示を企画している。

Born in 1977, Taihei Shii is a contemporary artist and entrepreneur. After graduating from Tama Art University with a degree in painting, he began creating art under the theme of “art in the age of the Internet. He has been ahead of the industry trend by acquiring patents in Japan and the U.S. in 2006 for a reduction payment mechanism such as is currently standardized in NFT transactions around the world. In 2014, while still a graduate student at the University of Tokyo, he founded Startbahn, a company that provides infrastructure to ensure the reliability of artworks and support the transmission of their value. The core of his business, “Startrail,” received a grant from the Ethereum Foundation inrecognition of its benefit to the public good.  His titles include CEO of Startbahn, Inc., CEO of Art Beat, Inc., visiting researcher at the University of Tokyo’s Institute of Industrial Science, Director of Eastern Culture Foundation, Director of Open Art Consortium, part-time lecturer at Tokyo University of the Arts, and a member of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry’s Study Group on Art and Economic Society. As an artist, in addition to exhibiting in solo and group shows, he has organized numerous exhibitions, including Fujisanten, SIZELESS TWIN, and Moon Art Night Shimokitazawa.
