Time is obscure and cruel since it is colorless and transparent. The present is changing shape with gaps and blurring by our consciousness, and then it has already stood behind us when we are aware of it. I paint the scene that something black is absorbing "The Past",and then the present, fragile and short-lived, continuing in the future on the basis of my collages.

Murata’ s monochrome-based abstract painting captivates the viewer with its flowing brushstrokes and bold color arrangement. Her composition seems to demand, “that color and that shape must be in that place on the canvas,” and her collages further increase the complexity of their layouts as colors overlap. Calculating and arranging blotches and drips of paint, her work makes one want to see the full story, which seem to continue outside the canvas. Rather than a mere still life, what serves as a landscape for Murata is the embodied beauty appearing in those lines.
