「フェルナンダ・フェヘル(1988年、ブラジル・サンパウロ生まれ)はニューヨーク・ブルックリンにあるプラットインスティテュート卒業後、現在はマルチメディアアーティストとしてポルトガル・リスボンに活動拠点を置いている。彼女は自身の作品の中で、象徴主義的な幻想性や、非現実的風景の中に主題を置くことにより、伝統的な肖像画の形式を打ち壊す取組みを行っている。家族や友人などの馴染み深い主題に焦点を当て、超自然的、超現実的な設定の中に主題を置き換えることにより、既知の世界のリアリティに対して挑戦している。 」
「Fernanda Feher (born in São Paulo, Brazil, 1988) is a multimedia artist, alumni at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, who is currently living and working in Lisbon, Portugal. In her work, Feher subverts traditional portraiture by placing subjects in fantastic, sometimes impossible landscapes heavy with symbolism. By focusing on familiar subjects such as friends and family she challenges the reality of the known by transposing her subjects into unnatural and surreal settings. 」

ブラジル出身でプラット・インスティテュート(ブルックリン、NY)を卒業したフェルナンダ・フェヘルは彼女を取り巻く環境すべての場所を彼女の内なる視点によって解釈している。フェルナンダの作品からは、日常生活の中での人々やオブジェクトを瑞々しい植物や動物とともに画面の中に置くことにより、非現実的な配置の中に奇妙なユーモアセンスを垣間見ることが出来る。2018年3月に滞在したAIR 3331で は秋葉原という目まぐるしい情報が溢れている場所で、彼女の友人とともに自撮りした画像に、奇妙な画像と言葉を組み合わせることでインターネット、ソーシャルメディアの間で溢れる情報世界を彷彿とさせるイメージを制作し、風刺的な視点を入れながら世界的な規模で広がるサブカルチャー間でのGIFについてのリサーチを行なった。フェルナンダの作品からは、忘れられてしまった何らかの形跡を彼女の視点を通じて感じる事が出来る。AIR 3331滞在後は、自身が初めての参加となるART FAIR 2020に作品を展示予定。

“I think of my paintings as postcards from a world inside of me.” – is Fernanda Feher’s way of delivering her work to viewers.*
Born in Brazil and graduated from Pratt Institute (Brooklyn, NY), now based in Portugal, Fernanda takes her inner visions wherever she goes. Fernanda’s work is known to take everyday people and objects into lustrous, fertile settings brimming with plant and animal life, at times with an underlying sense of strange humor in their inconceivable placement. During her residency at AIR 3331 during March 2018, she especially took on a satirical approach to the global phenomena of the GIF popping up across sub-cultures, inserting her own selfies as well as images of friends into the bizarre range of combined images and texts resembling those across the Web, social media, and the dizzying array of information in places like Akihabara. Out of each and every painting by Fernanda, we do indeed receive a token of her world that remains unforgotten. Her inclusion in the 3331 ART FAIR 2020 marks her first time participating in an art fair in Tokyo.
