ホイ・セリーヌ・スー・ロクは2018年に6月から約1ヶ月間AIR 3331に滞在した。 コンセプチュアル・アーティストとしてヴェネチア、イタリア、オランダ、アイスランドに滞在し、サイトスペシフィックなプロジェクトに焦点を当てている。日本において、彼女は蚤の市で手に入れた物を使用し、失った場所、思考、時間を想像させるインスタレーションを制作した。この作品空間においては、文学作品からの引用、詩的作品、ホイ・セリーヌの個人的な考察が視覚的表現やオルゴールの音によって記録され、好奇心をそそる言葉とともに表現されている。詩的作品、哲学的なインスタレーション、壁に反射した光の追跡、彼女が生み出すイメージがすべて重厚で質感の高いアーティストブックとして記録されており、それは私たちを新しい領域へと導く地図のようである。現在、彼女はオランダに拠点をおいて活動しており、更なる活躍が期待される。

Hui Serene Sze Lok from Hong Kong participated in a residency at AIR 3331 from June to July of 2018. Having been active as a conceptual artist in locations including Venice, Italy, The Netherlands, and North Iceland, Hui Serene has always focused on site-specific projects. Here in Japan, she scavenged flea markets, appropriating the objects to form an installation in which viewers lose their footing of space, thought, and time. In this space, quotations of literature, poetry, and Hui Serene’s personal thoughts ran alongside visuals and curious language recorded by sounds of a music box. In every piece – from poetic and philosophical installations, the tracking of phenomena like light reflected on a wall, to her image-rich and textural artist books – Hui Serene creates a new map of the universe for us to explore. Today, she is based in The Netherlands, from where we can expect even more developments to her creative practice.
