日常の中でふと出合う、視覚的な倒錯、頭に浮かぶ記憶とイメージの脈絡のない繋がり。日々の生活を送る中でつい忘れ去ってしまうそれらの事象を、堀内の作品は視覚化し、現実に止める。 実際、アスファルトに含まれる不純物が反射する様子を星空に見立て、写真とプロジェクション投影で見せた『Star Chart (on Films)』や、飛行機から見える夕日でオレンジに色づく雲頂の映像と、斜行したカラフルな線が印画された紙を組み合わせた『Oblique』といったインスタレーションでは、堀内が偶然出くわした視覚的イリュージョンが、ブラウン管のテレビやスライドプロジェクターなどの旧式なメディアで提示されている。それはいささかのユーモアと詩情をもって、見る人をノスタルジーへと誘い、作品世界へと引き込んでいく。
Visual inversion, memories arising in the mind, and images that make incoherent connections appear unexpectedly in everyday life―phenomena that pass us by and are forgotten in daily life are visualized in the work of Horiuchi and anchored in reality. In “Star Chart (on Films)”, that likens the way in which the adulterant in asphalt reflects the light to a starry sky and is presented in photography and projection, and in “Oblique” which combines aerial film of the clouded top of a mountain colored orange in sunset with paper printed with diagonal lines, visual illusions that Horiuchi encountered by accident are displayed in outdated media, such as tube televisions or slide projectors. With subtle humor and poetry, her work invites the audience to nostalgia, and draws them into his world.
