繊細でシャープな線による作品は、エンコスティックという古代ギリシアから続く絵画の技法をベースに、独自に生み出したエッチング技法によるものだ。フィールドワークに適した携帯性を持ったことよって、エッチングによるドローイングがどこでも可能になり、タップドローイングシリーズでは、タップダンサーのタップの痕跡とダンサーの動きをリアルタイムでドローイングしていくというダイナミックな作品を生み出している。自身もダンサーである上村は、目で見た形・色・線をそのままに、踊るようなリズムで平面作品をつくる。描かれているモチーフだけでなく、凹凸のある線のディテール一本一本にまで注目してほしい。

Nanako Kamimura uses delicate, sharp lines in her works. Her etching technique, which she devised herself, is based on encaustic painting, a painting technique that originated in ancient Greece. Because her etching technique involves portable tools, it can be used outside her studio. As a result, Kamimura can go anywhere she wants and etch to draw. In the tap drawing series, she produced dynamic works by drawing in real time the traces of the tap dancers’ taps and their movements. Kamimura is a dancer herself. Using the shapes, colors, and lines that she sees, she creates two-dimensional works that have the rhythm of dancing. When looking at Kamimura’s works, the motifs are not the only thing we need to look at. We need to pay equal attention to the details, including the lines, which have bumps and depressions.
