光岡幸一は継続的なリサーチを通じて東京近郊の河川の拡張工事によって沈んでしまう小さな“村”に出会い、その一帯をアートセンターへと転用するプロジェクトを開始する。河川や村から見えてくる都市の変化や自然災害、そこに自生する小さな物語に耳を傾けた光岡自身の体験を頼りに制作される作品は、私たちの想像力を知らない土地へ、ここにいない人々のところへ連れ出してくれる。
Through his continuous research, Koichi Mitsuoka came across a small "village" that would have sunk due to the expansion of a river near Tokyo, and started a project to convert that area into an art center. Mitsuoka's works, which are produced based on Mitsuoka's own experience of seeing the changes in the city and natural disasters from rivers and villages, and listening to the small stories that are naturally born there, will take viewers to a land that is beyond the realms of our imagination, among people who are not with us.
