絵に描かれている陶磁器。後藤有美さんの作品は、画中のそれを三次元の存在として立体化させるとともに、その表面に画中の陶磁器以外の部分を表現するというものだ。モチーフの静物画はインターネットで検索され、であるから作品は、ピクセルを彷彿とさせる「練り込み」の技法を用いて制作されている。2019年2月、工芸コース陶芸専攻の卒業制作として発表された卒業制作のモチーフは、セザンヌ、ブリューゲル、モネといった西洋美術の大家のそれである。日本の近代化は、絵画を純粋化し、工芸を実用化する方向に進んだが、後藤さんの作品は、現在でも続いている「美術」と「工芸」の捉え方の難しさを、確かな技術の応用によってあたかもひっくり返しつつ、統合を試みているようなところに惹かれる。
Ceramics depicted in a painting. Yumi Goto's works give these ceramics a three-dimensional presence, and even express parts of the surface that are not ceramic. The still life that were used as motifs were searched for on the Internet, and the works are created using the "nerikomi (kneading)" technique to resemble pixels. The motifs of her graduation work, which was announced in February 2019 for her graduation as a ceramics major in the Crafts Course, were none other than the great masters of Western art such as Cezanne, Bruegel and Monet. The modernization of Japan has progressed in the direction of purifying paintings and putting crafts into practical use, but Goto's works are fascinating as through the application of proven techniques, they try to integrate and overturn the difficulty of understanding "art" and "crafts" that still continues on to this day.
