シリーズ＜Water Droplets＞（2010年）からの２点。
窓硝子と青空と雲をモチーフにして、窓のメタファーとしての絵画を対象化することを試みた。硝子板よりも薄い絵具のレイヤーで、濡れと撥水という水の表面張力を応用して、点描を反転した網点のような視覚像を定着している。その向こう側は、空中にあまねく分散する水素が宇宙全体に無限に広がり循環していることを暗示している。環境音楽のような波動のゆらぎをキャンバス上で重層的に表現した作品である。

Using motifs of window glass, blue sky, and clouds, Nakanowatari treats paintings as metaphorical windows. A layer of paint, thinner than a glass plate, evokes the wet and water-repellant character of the surface tension of water and fixes a visual network of inversed stippling. The other side suggests that hydrogen, which is widely distributed in the air, spreads infinitely and circulates through the universe. These works express fluctuating waves reminiscent of ambient music in multiple layers on the canvas.

中野渡は1994年、東京藝術大学大学院博士課程在学中に、直島コンテンポラリーアートミュージアムで南條史生が企画した「OUT OF BOUNDS」展に、後ろ向きに走るバイクの作品《パイドロス》を出品し注目された。近年では黒の背景に星や雪のようにも見える白い粒子群や、水蒸気や雲のような大気の動きを表した宇宙空間が浮かび上がるような絵画を制作している。このシリーズ「星・雪・水蒸気」は2021年、青森県立美術館に収蔵され、2022年のコレクション展1で展示室1室を使って公開された。今回は、このシリーズが制作される前年のシリーズ「Water Droplets」からの作品が出品される予定。
