小谷くるみの絵画シリーズ「21g」では、画面全体が「窓」として想定され、結露したガラスの表面に何者かが触れた痕跡が残されている。
神秘的、あるいは超自然的な現象への関心から、ホラー映画の一場面を連想させるような画面を創出させ、そこに見えない何者かの気配、不確かな存在を浮き上がらせている。
一方、「時間・痕跡〈錆〉」シリーズでは金属の表面が空気や水に触れてできる腐食物、錆を絵具の代替物として使うことで、物質が変化する時間の経過や存在の痕跡を考えさせる。
そこに描かれた図像もまた、人類の存在を痕跡として示唆するものである。
In Kurumi Kotani's painting series 21g the entire paiting surface is treated like a "window," and on the glass with condensation are traces of someone.
Kotani, who is interested in the mystical or supernatural phenomenon, creates a image that reminds us of horror movies and indicates the presence of someone invisible,
something unsure.
On the other hands, in her series "Time,Trace,Rust," the way she uses the rust, which appeared on metallic surface due to exposure to the air and water as a painting medium,
makes un think about the passing of time that changes material and trace of existence.
The image that is created also becomes traces that suggest human existence.
